Membership Sales Manager

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Member Sales Manager to join our dynamic team. As a Member Sales Representative, you will play a crucial role in driving our nonprofit's growth and sustainability by attracting new members who share our vision of responsible AI.

 

 

The Responsible AI Institute (RAI Institute) is a global and member-driven non-profit dedicated to enabling successful responsible AI efforts in organizations. The RAI Institute’s conformity assessments and certifications for AI systems support practitioners as they navigate the complex landscape of AI products. Through our global network of responsible AI experts, the RAI Institute offers valuable insights to practitioners, policymakers, and regulators to enable technologies that improve the social and economic well-being of society.

Position Overview: We are seeking a passionate Member Engagement and Community Manager to join our team. This role is fully remote and we are looking for candidates located in the United States or Canada. The ideal candidate will play a pivotal role in building and maintaining relationships with our members, stakeholders, and partners. This role encompasses member engagement, sales coordination, marketing support and relationship management to support the growth and impact of our organization's initiatives. This is a generalist role that requires an individual who can think strategically and is passionate about our mission. We are a small but growing team. Your experience will be well rounded and impactful.

Role Responsibilities

Member Engagement

  • Develop and execute strategies to enhance member engagement, satisfaction, and retention.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for members, addressing inquiries, providing assistance, and maintaining a high level of customer service.

  • Organize and facilitate member events, workshops, webinars, surveys and conferences to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing within the AI community.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure members' needs and feedback are incorporated into program development and improvements.

 

Success Metrics 

  • Increase member satisfaction by 15% year over year

  • Maintain an engagement rate of at least 70% through proactive communication.

Sales and Marketing Support

  • Support the organization's sales efforts, including outreach, prospecting, and relationship building with potential members and partners.

  • Prepare and deliver persuasive presentations, proposals, and pitches to potential members, effectively conveying the value of joining RAI Institute as a member 

  • Collaborate with finance and administration teams to manage membership dues, invoicing, and payments.

  • Assist in the development and execution of community engagement initiatives to strengthen connections among members and foster a sense of belonging within the organization.

  • Support the creation of engaging marketing materials, including website content, social media posts, newsletters, and promotional materials.

  • Collaborate with the communications team to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all member-related communications and marketing materials.

Success Metrics

  • Generate 20% growth in membership opportunities year-over-year

  • Facilitate 3 member events and workshops quarterly

Relationship Management

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with current and prospective members, partners, and stakeholders

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to identify opportunities for strategic partnerships, collaborations, and joint initiatives

  • Regularly assess the evolving needs and preferences of members and partners to tailor engagement and sales strategies accordingly

Success Metrics 

  • Conduct regular member feedback surveys, achieving a participation rate of at least 30%

  • Ensure a member retention rate of 85% by implementing tailored engagement strategies

Data Analysis and Reporting

  • Collect and analyze data related to member engagement, sales performance, and market trends to inform decision-making

  • Prepare regular reports and presentations on key metrics, insights, and recommendations for senior management

Success Metrics

  • Analyze engagement and sales data, presenting insights to senior management quarterly

  • Provide reports on membership growth and engagement metrics for meetings

  • Track progress toward engagement and revenue goals, adjusting strategies as needed

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field 

  • Proven experience (5+ years) in member engagement, sales, or business development, preferably in a non-profit, technology, or AI-related environment.

  • Strong understanding of AI ethics, responsible AI practices, and industry trends

  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal, and professional experience in content generation

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with diverse stakeholders

  • Self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities

  • Proficiency in CRM software (HubSpot), GSuite, Project Management Software (Asana) and data analysis tools 

Location: This role is fully remote and based in the US or Canada
