Responsible AI Institute (RAI Institute) concluded 2024 with significant achievements in advancing responsible AI practices, marked by its annual RAISE event, Leadership in RAI Awards, launch of RAI Hub 2.0, and release of critical guidance for AI practitioners. These initiatives reflect RAI Institute’s commitment to fostering responsible AI development and implementation across industries.
RAISE 2024
RAISE 2024 community event convened over 1,000 industry leaders, opening with General Manager Jeff Easley’s State of the Union address highlighting the organization’s growth and impact. A keynote panel moderated by Hadassah Drukarch, Director of Policy & Delivery, explored the evolving landscape of AI governance and ethical implementation.
The expert panel featured Cortnie Abercrombie, Founder and CEO of AI Truth; Asha Saxena, Founder and CEO of Women Leaders In Data & AI and The AI Factor Institute; and Lama Saouma, Senior Policy Advisor at Canadian AI Safety Institute. Discussions centered on critical gaps in AI governance, with Abercrombie emphasizing the need for comprehensive end-to-end processes, from initial use case evaluation to post-deployment crisis management. Saxena outlined four crucial stages of responsible AI adoption, while Saouma addressed the importance of industry-specific risk thresholds in regulatory frameworks.
Leadership in Responsible AI Awards
The 2024 Leadership in Responsible AI Awards recognized outstanding achievements in three categories:
Outstanding Initiative Winner: OneTrust Copilot, selected from a competitive field including initiatives from TELUS, RBC Borealis, KPMG, and other industry leaders.
Outstanding Organization Winner: Brown-Forman, chosen among distinguished nominees including The Institute for Experiential AI’s Responsible AI Practice at Northeastern University, TELUS, KPMG, Shell, and Boston Consulting Group.
Outstanding Individual Winner: Bryan McGowan, Principal of KPMG’s Global Trusted AI Team, recognized alongside notable nominees from BCG, ATB Financial, Shell, and other leading organizations.
RAI Hub 2.0
The launch of RAI Hub 2.0 represents a significant evolution in RAI Institute’s digital resources, offering:

- Interactive discussion spaces for knowledge sharing and ecosystem developments

New Strategic Guides and Launch of Premium Research in 2025
In Q4, RAI Institute expanded its research portfolio with the release of two comprehensive guides:
“Operationalizing Independent Review in AI Governance,” authored by Hadassah Drukarch and Monika Viktorova, provides a structured approach to implementing independent review processes in AI development. The guide draws from bioethics principles and offers practical steps for establishing effective oversight mechanisms, emphasizing impartiality, accountability, and comprehensive stakeholder engagement.
“Mapping Cyber Risk for LLMs” addresses the emerging security challenges in Large Language Model deployments. This executive-focused guide offers critical insights into identifying vulnerabilities across the LLM lifecycle and provides actionable strategies for risk mitigation, essential for organizations integrating AI technologies into their operations.
2025 will see the launch of RAI Institute’s premium research program, offering corporate members exclusive access to in-depth analysis, implementation frameworks, and actionable insights. Non-members can purchase individual research reports through their digital marketplace. This new research program represents RAI Institute’s commitment to providing comprehensive, practical guidance for organizations implementing responsible AI practices.
