Unlocking the Power of AI – Steps for Effective Certification to Help Drive Innovation and Trust
Today, the Certification Working Group (CWG) is publishing for comment a draft of its white paper entitled Unlocking the Power of AI – Steps for Effective Certification to Help Drive Innovation and Trust. CWG expects to publish a final version in late July and welcomes input on its comment draft from all stakeholders.
CWG consists of technology, certification, and governance experts from various geographies and with backgrounds in industry, academia, civil society, and government. It was launched in 2021 by the Responsible AI Institute, the Schwartz Reisman Institute for Technology and Society at the University of Toronto and the World Economic Forum’s Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
CWG focuses on promoting an effective certification ecosystem for AI, identifying the need for trusted certification bodies and addressing existing gaps in areas like AI standards, government guidance, and market demand. The white paper includes a description of the crucial role of certification for AI, current gaps in AI certification, and recommendations for government and other stakeholders.
